A specially developed "blog" has been created to allow squadorns and districts to share their 100th Anniversary Celebrations.

The Flag and Etiquette Committee has approved a special ensign to be used for the 100th anniversary.  It may only be flown from 2013-2014, and then it will be retired.

All Districts in USPS will receive a commemorative ensign at the 2013 Annual Meeting in Jacksonville.  District commanders will take the ensign back to their respective districts to use throughout the year. Squadrons will be able to order a special ribbon to be designed by its members according to the flag company’s specifications.  When completed, it will be attached to their District 100th anniversary ensign.  All ribbons and ensigns will return to Jacksonville in 2014 and be part of a special flag ceremony during the opening ceremonies of the Governing Board Meeting on Saturday morning. 

Commemorative Ensigns will be for sale at Ship’s Store at the Detroit Governing Board Meeting as well as on-line at www.shopusps.org and at Ships Store in Jacksonville 2013 and San Antonio.  As part of a 100 year old organization, we hope you will fly your ensign proudly and as often as possible.

V. Jan Wright, PR chairman of D/26 is coordinating the ordering of the squardron battle ribbons for her district.  Her sharing idea is to put the squadron name (leave off the Sail and Power Squadron initials) and replace with the founding date.  They might also make a district battle ribbon with its founding date. Checking with Brian Waters of Seaborn Canvas, she found that this could be done for the $20 fee. Thanks for sharing, Jan!

Larry Stout from D/31 submitted an article about the USPS 100th Anniverary to the newspaper, the Chronicle, of Grand Lake, Oklahoma.  It appeared in January in a special issue advertising the Tulsa Boat Show, which is rated as one of the top ten boat shows in America. Click download at the top of the page to read the article.

District 13 (CA) has big plans for their Fall Conference. "Celebrating 100 Years of USPS in Hawaii" is the theme for their conference which will take place in Honolulu, Hawaii, from 23-26 October.  All of USPS is invited.  Stay tuned for a link to their website when the details are finalized.
