Because of the large number of fields in the database, the data is
broken down into several grid displays containing related information. .

Navigation: |
| There are generally two ways of navigating around the screens in DB2000, the mouse and the keyboard. Since the program is largely word based the keyboard method may be preferred, or a combination or both. |
| Mouse: Single-Clicking a grid cell will select it. Double-Clicking the cell will open it for editing if the data in the cell is editable. If some other action is controlled by the cell, this will activate it. Double-Clicking the cell again closes and saves the changes. |
| Keyboard: Use the arrow keys to select a specific grid cell, press "Enter" to open the cell for editing or taking action associated with the cell. When editing is finished press "Enter" again. |
Editing Grid Cells: |
| Use the arrow keys to select a cell and get into the edit mode by pressing the "Enter" key. The cell will change color indicating the edit mode is selected. |
| While in the edit mode, right-clicking the mouse will raise the Windows edit dialog which is fully functional and allows cut / copy / paste operations as in most other Windows applications. |
| If the cell contains a dropdown list it can be searched using the arrow keys. In most cases it can also be positioned by typing the first letter of the desired topic. |
| After editing return to normal mode by pressing the "Enter" key again. |
| Edit can be abandoned by pressing the "Esc" key. The cell will then contain information prior to entering the edit mode. |
Sorting: |
| In the grid displays, the columns are sorted by right-clicking the mouse on the header cell. Alternate clicks will sort in ascending then descending order. |
