Squadron Burgee Heraldry:

When our Squadron was chartered, most of our members were engaged in the moon missions. Huntsville, Alabama is known as the 'Space Capital of the World.' We are the home of Redstone Arsenal, Marshall Space Flight Center and the Alabama Space and Rocket Center. The Saturn V rocket that brought us to the moon was developed here. In keeping with this, the Huntsville Power Squadron burgee, designed by Mrs. Beth Hines, the wife of charter member, Edward Hines, AP, features a red rocket blazing a white vapor trail to a golden moon on a blue background. A blue field represents the sky in space. A red rocket indicates the vehicle en route to explore and perhaps visit other planets. The white trail of the rocket indicates the brilliant flash of the mighty propellant thrust, and the yellow moon indicates the nearby target of our early exploration for the United States.

We consider this pennant unique in that it portrays our concerted effort which is peculiar to the Huntsville area, indicating navigation of the skies and the sea below them.
