Commander's Message
Welcome to District 12. Our area encompasses Greater Boston from Plymouth and the South Shore, west to Worcester County and the northern and western suburbs of Boston. Our members sail, row, paddle and motor through rivers, lakes, ponds and across oceans. Our boats are kayaks, sunfish, runabouts, sloops, trawlers and sailing cats. We teach classes in, to name a few, Global Positioning, Celestial Navigation and just plain Basic Boating. Whatever your skill level, you’re welcome to come take a course with us or to join our ranks and share the many benefits of membership.
United States Power Squadron members enjoy substantial discounts on marine insurance, charts and other boating related services and supplies. As the foremost boating education organization in the United States, our members are part of a network of trained knowledgeable boaters who are there for each other. Whether it’s a simple question about that funny noise your engine is making or you want to be a crew member, or how do you provision for that dream cruise to the Bahamas, we’re there for you.
Our community outreach includes special classes for children, our well known Vessel Safety Check program and numerous civic activities. We march in parades, do safety demonstrations and air programs on the local cable stations.
But it’s not all work. We are after all, boaters. All year round we have speaker evenings, dinners, clam bakes and on the water rendezvous. We have group trips to the local National Weather Service office and to go canal barging in Belgium.
Take a look at our site and our nine member squadrons, then
WELCOME ABOARD!!!
We’re happy to have you and your family as guests or better yet as new members.
