Welcome to the United States Power Squadron® District 12 website. If you are a first time visitor to our site looking for information on our boating courses and/or seminars or a member of District 12 and USPS interested in keeping up to date on events/courses throughout the district, we hope you find the information you need. If you do need additional information or would like to join USPS and any of our squadrons, please contact me or anyone else on the Bridge. We are here to assist.
District 12, incorporated in 1941, is one of the 33 districts that constitute the United States Power Squadron. We currently consist of 9 squadrons with approximately 750 members based in the Greater Boston area. Our area includes much of Eastern Massachusetts from Plymouth and the South Shore, west to Natick and Worcester and northwest to Concord, Lexington and Acton. We have had a long illustrious history being chartered in 1941 and being the home of the Boston Power Squadron from which USPS first evolved. From our website there are direct links to the websites for each of the squadrons in District 12 where you will find additional information on their location, their history, and the educational and social programs that they have scheduled. You are welcome to attend any class or social activity in any of the squadrons in the district.
Our membership is extremely diversified with people enjoying boating on everything from Massachusetts Bay, Cape Cod and Buzzards Bay, to the many rivers and lakes in our region. We are sailors, power boaters, both big boats and little boats, and canoeists and kayakers. Our boating season may be shorter than in other parts of the country but through our many educational programs and our year round social programs, we keep boating Fun throughout the year. Wherever your interests lie and whatever your skill level, you will find members who share the same love of boating and being on the water as you do.
The United States Power Squadron is a nationwide non-profit organization dedicated to making boating safer by providing the foremost boating educational opportunities to both the public and to our members and to making boating fun by sponsoring programs and social events that promote friendship and camaraderie with our fellow members. In addition to our educational programs, our community service programs include activities such as our free voluntary Vessel Safety Check programs, cooperative charting programs in conjunction with NOAA and the Army Corp of Engineers, and involvement with the America’s Waterway Watch program in conjunction with the Coast Guard and Homeland Security as well as other local civic activities.
We welcome you to our district and hope to see you and your family as members of District 12 and the United States Power Squadron and to see you out on the water having fun.
