Please join us and meet USPS Chief Commander Creighton Maynard, hear the latest about national marketing programs from Mr. Tom Kemp, National Marketing Manager and honor award recipients. An educational and informative day is planned.

Guest Speakers

Chief Commander Creighton C. Maynard

Chief Commander Creighton C. Maynard, Jr., SN, of Fort Worth, Texas, joined the Fort Worth Power Squadron in 1969.

Creighton attended high school in Beaumont, Texas. He is a member of the class of 1955, Texas A&M University, where he received a B.B.A. degree before entering the military. He completed law school in 1961, receiving LL.B. and J.D. degrees from Baylor Law School. He has practiced law (continues to attempt to get it right) since 1963 in Fort Worth, Texas.

He has served in most squadron positions and was elected Squadron Commander in 1991. He is active in his squadron's and district's Cooperative Charting efforts, has taught, served on numerous squadron and district committees, and was District 21 Law Officer for several years.

He was elected District 21 Commander in 1996 after having served the District as its’ Executive and Administrative Officers.

At the National level, he is presently serving his second year as the Chief Commander, after having served 2 years as the National Executive Officer and 2 years as the National Administrative Officer. Additionally, he has also served as a member of the Member of the Involvement, Committee on Rules, Legislation and Government Relations, (Assistant Chairman), Committee on Nominations, (Chairman), and Operating Committees for 6 years. He has been an aide to Chief Commanders Farr, Jensen, and Smith and has 25 merit marks and is a Life Member.

Creighton has been active in several volunteer organizations, but with his present involvement in USPS, not anymore. He has skippered a boat of some kind since 1951, both sail and power. He presently has a 29' Sea Ray.

He is married to Glenda Woods Maynard. Glenda attended the University of Texas, Austin, receiving a B.S. degree and is a former Elementary Teacher. She is active on the National Ship's Store and Social Activities Committees.

She does volunteer work with the American Heart Association, the March of Dimes Mother's March, the St Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. She enjoys reading, gardening, Crossword and Sudoku puzzles.

Time permitting, Creighton and Glenda enjoy as many boating activities as possible. They have a combined family of six children, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Tom Kemp, USPS Manager of Marketing & Development Services

Tom brings over twenty years of highly successful and productive experience in marketing planning and analysis, developing new marketing strategies and tactics, writing the annual and long-range corporate plan, and turning around corporate marketing efforts to make the organization relevant to the changing environment. His accomplishments include developing the strategic and tactical corporate marketing plan for one of the leading companies in the industry, building brand loyalty, upgrading the company website to make it easy to use and easy to navigate, directing the marketing and sales efforts in the mass, discount, club, military and gourmet channels of distribution, and initiating new pricing, product, promotion, packaging and selling strategies for existing and new products.
