Champlain Power Squadron is located in northern New York state on the shore of Lake Champlain, where most squadron members do their boating.
Educationally, Champlain
offers Public Boating courses to the general
public, as well as advanced educational courses
to members. There are regular social meetings and cruise
& rendezvous with the Squadron and also with other Squadrons in
District 2. These outings are enjoyment for our members and
friends. Events ATTENTION MEMBERS AND THE PUBLIC!! Champlain Sail and Power Squadron, a unit of the United States Power Squadrons, the world's largest boating safety education organization, will be conducting America's Boating Course, on Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6 at the Lodge at Gander Mountain Sports in the Champlain Center Mall. The course will be approximately 8 hours in length and run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday with a break for lunch each day. Included in the course will be boating safety rules and procedures, navigation rules, basic boat handling, coping with adverse conditions and emergency situations, communications afloat, trailering, personal water craft operation, state and federal regulations and more. It is a NASABLA-approved course and will satisfy the boating education requirements of both New York and Vermont as well as the Canadian federal requirements. Although all US Power Squadron instructors are volunteers and are not paid for teaching boating safety courses there is a charge of $35 for books and materials. A reduced price is available for two people who wish to share course materials.
