FLARE SHOOT/FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINING

Wondering what to do with all those outdated flares?  The Squadron has scheduled a flare shoot for Saturday, June 8, at 1300.  Fire extinguishing demo to follow.    It will be a joint activity with the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club, on their property, and will be approved by both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Sturgeon Bay Fire Chief.

The Coast Guard will have airspace cleared so that we can burn flares and learn the proper technique in a supervised venue.  In addition, the Fire Department will set controlled fires on the Yacht Club grounds so that attendees can learn proper fire extinguisher handling. 

This is a great hands-on event that will be open to the public.  Let’s continue to promote all aspects of safety to area boaters throughout the season, so come on out and participate!  For more information contact Alan Wentworth  or at  920 336-3274.

If you have out-dated flares, you may drop them off for disposal.  There will be containers for these old flares.
