Coos Bay Power Squadron, located on Coos Bay on the South Oregon Coast is a unit of District 32 of United States Power Squadrons ®
, the largest private non-profit boating organization in the world. An organization of men and women bonded together in the interest of Safe Boating through Education. USPS®, an organization of over 450 Squadrons and 60,000 members, is truly America's Boating Club.

Coos Bay Power Squadron was chartered in 1959, and since then our members have taught boating safety to hundreds of fledgling and long time boaters. Many have joined the Squadron and improved their personal boating skills by taking the courses offered to members through USPS. These courses are taught by qualified members who volunteer their time, knowledge and energy to provide the best possible education program from Seamanship and Piloting to Celestial Navigation.

The Squadron has public basic boating safety courses each year and members take classes in advanced nautical knowledge, Seamanship, Piloting and Celestial Navigation, Marine Electronics, Weather, Engine Maintenance, Sail, Cruise Planning and Instructor Qualification.
Classes are taught at the Squadron Building at the Charleston Boat Basin in Charleston Oregon.

Becoming a member requires passing a squadron boating safety course or equivalent, being sponsored by a squadron member and being willing and able to contribute energy and skills to USPS and Coos Bay Squadron.

Squadron Boating Course® a twelve hour boating safety course will be presented at the Power Squadron building in Charleston OR. This NASBLA* approved course meets Oregon's requirements for manditory boater safety education certification and for squadron membership. Oregon's boater safety education rules are available on request by calling (503)373-8587 or at the Oregon Marine Board site boatoregon.com
