CRUISE PLANNING COURSE DESCRIPTION

Designed for members who plan to cruise for just a day or for a year aboard either a sail or powerboat this course covers the following topics:

· Cruise preparation and planning

· Boat and Equipment

· Anchors and Anchoring

· Security

· Chartering

· Cruising Outside the United States

· Crew and Provisioning

· Voyage Management

· Communications

· Navigation

· Weather

· Emergencies

The manual includes a twelve-month cruise planning timeline. The course is non-modular with one final exam.

This course is aboard the T/V State of Michigan

· The student will enter through the gate at the stern of the ship and proceed to the gangway to board the ship

· The instructor will be on the dock to guide you to the classroom

· The gate is locked during the course so be on time
