District 28 Inland Rendezvous
3-4 April 2009
Katherine Landing, AZ
by Sharon DackOur District 28 Inland Rendezvous on April 3rd thru April 5th was a success despite Mother Nature's determination to blow us off the lake on Saturday morning.
Our fellow members from Phoenix and the California squadrons joined one another Friday evening for a get together on the lawn of the Lake Mohave Resort at Katherine Landing on Lake Mohave. Yummy appetizers were brought by everyone, along with libation of choice. There was lots of visiting between old and new acquaintances, and exchanging of ideas.
Great Company and Good Conversations
Sharon Dack and Jerry Anderson
David Allocco (L) from Phoenix and
Lou Loth of BalboaWe felt honored that PDC Katy Law and current DC, Van Diehl joined in our fun weekend. Jerry Anderson, Phoenix Administrative Officer, and my counterpart, was a pleasure to work with. Keeping in mind that he retired the day before he had to prepare all the goodies that have to be sorted through and packed for an event like this, He deserves extra thanks for a job well done.
A Beautiful Day on the Beach
A Meat Lover's Dream
Onlookers Anxiously Await Barb Bramble
to Announce the WinnerDespite the heavy winds during the Poker Run on Saturday morning, the hardiest sailors prevailed, and the extra treat was the "beach up" in a delightful, sandy and CALM cove. Maybe we should have started there?
On Saturday night BBQs were lit, tables prepared and everyone brought their food offering. The dessert table was overflowing, by the way! Extra poker hands were sold and the game began!
