Commander's Message

Cdr Jo Anne Waller

Ahoy Everyone!

District 28 Educational Officer

Congratulations to Bob Kelly! District Commander Mark Keltner sent word to D/28 Bridge members last week of Bob's acceptance by National as our new District 28 Educational Officer. D/C Keltner is also requesting that squadron Educational Officers attend the D/28 Council meeting in Chula Vista on June 2, 2012, so they can meet Bob. I'll see you in Chula Vista, Bob! Welcome to your new position! The squadron is proud of you!

Inland Rendezvous at Katherine Landing/Lake Mohave

Thanks to all who attended and contributed toward the great weekend we had with members from Phoenix, Oceanside, and elsewhere, during our Inland Rendezvous April 20-22. If you were not there, you missed great food and good friends! Please read Sharon Weller's report for an in depth review and photographs.

ABC Class Graduation

Please read Mike Accardo's report on the awesome ABC Class and the graduation last Saturday, April 28. Mike had a tremendous turnout for his class and now we have new members to invite to our meetings and activities.

National Safe Boating Week Activities (May 19 through May 26)

Watch for notices regarding activities and signups to join during this all important week. This is a nationwide program so let's get out there and advertise our presence in the Tri-State!

Just for Fun … it's all in the Perspective!

Occasionally I get asked what kind of boat my son has, and I am sure some of you are also curious as to what it is I hang out on when I am actually hanging out on the water. Well, here she is:

Waller's Lil Boat

It's a beautiful Laveycraft, a wonderful boat made right in our hometown of Corona, California. Yes, it does go fast and we all love it. Yesterday, while enjoying lunch with my family at Pirate's Cove on the Colorado River, another boat came into a slip close to us. Obviously, we are in the foreground, not the one that didn't fit in the slip!

Waller Boat In The Foreground

Hummmmm, perhaps she came from the Lake Havasu Shoot Out?

Big Boat!!!

Here's another view, just so you can take this into perspective! Would I if I could? At first glance, the answer was "No Way" but after a while, "Yep, I would if I could" … and with a great big grin on my face!

Prayers for the Family and Friends of the Sailors aboard the Aegean

Please send your heartfelt prayers and good thoughts to the family and friends of the sailors who were lost while participating in a Newport Beach, California, to Ensenada, Mexico, regatta when they met with a tragic accident on April 29, 2012. For further information and a video of the rescue efforts, please refer to the USPS website, Coast Guard news.

That's it for this month. Keep up the good work and I will see you at the GMM on May 9th. Safe boating to you all……
