Privacy Statement

Welcome to the web site of the Acadiana Power Squadron.

We are located in Lafayette, Louisiana - "Heart of Acadiana" and the "Sportsman's Paradise".  Our members are from many walks of life and live and work in this eight parish area of south Louisiana.

Boating opportunities are numerous and varied here - from freshwater bayous and lakes nearby to the saltwater canals, bays and the Gulf of Mexico less than an hour away.  Most people who were raised here have lived all their lives on the water - operating small power boats or paddling "pirogues".  In the old days boating safety wasn't a big priority.  But with the increasing popularity of recreational boating - and high powered boat engines the need for boating safety education has grown.

Our mission, as is the USPS mission is:

To promote recreational boating safety through education and civic activities while providing fellowship for our members.

We are striving to provide quality education to our members, our friends and the public with regular class offerings and further educational opportunities through membership in the Acadiana Power Squadron.  If you are interested in learning more about our educational programs or about our organization you are invited to contact:

Sam Thibodeaux, Commander  or
Lee Walker, Education Officer

For information on this web site or comments you are welcome to contact the Acadiana Power Squadron Webmaster, Past Commander Lorna G. Hanes.
