Commanders Message

On April 1, 1957 a group of twenty two men came together to charter the Amoskeag Power Squadron. They elected Cooper Smith as their first Commander.  Today, forty seven years and thirty two Squadron commanders later you have elected me as your squadron commander.

In these forty seven years since our founding the Amoskeag Power Squadron has taught public boating and boating safety to many thousands of people throughout the south central area of New Hampshire.  We have also taught each other many of the finer points of boating, boating safety and navigation.  I think it's safe to say we have had a lot of fun doing it.

In today's non stop, full speed ahead life style some of the things we did in the past may not work as well as they once did.  To that end we need to try new ideas.  This web  side is one of them .  It will give us a place to go when we need to see what is going on or how a project is working, or when and where the next class will be held.

The United States Power Squadrons are changing and we of Amoskeag Power Squadron must change with it.

In the final analysis what this squadron is and how it progresses from here is up to us all.

Members of the Bridge will be looking for a few good men and women to h elp lead us into the future. If you are asked to help please give it a try.  If you would like to help but haven't been asked... please call or e-mail or speak to any one of the bridge officers

Finally I wish to give special thanks to Dan Gingras for putting this web site together.

Bill Driscoll,  Past Commander
