Membership is by application and is for anyone who shares our common love of boating, has passed the public boating course, and who is interested in advancing the objectives of the organization: the education of members, participation in civic programs, and the creation of an atmosphere of friendship and camaraderie among members. Active members must be at least 18 years of age; there are no age considerations for family members.

The public boating course referred to must have a proctored exam and approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA). The following have been approved:

Family membership is available to a spouse and children living in the same household as an active member. Individuals under the age of 18 who do not qualify in the above category may join as an apprentice. Family members who have passed any of the above examinations may take the member educational courses.

The Anclote Key Sail and Power Squadron has members that have sail and power boats. We also have members that do not currently have a boat. Owning a boat is not a requirement.

Additional membership information can be found at the United States Power Squadrons headquarters site at http://www.usps.org/national/membership
