  1. Education:  Advanced Grade and Elective courses, providing professional level instruction in many disciplines related to the maritime environment, are presented by the professional instructors of Bare Cove and other local Squadrons. Each of these courses is well known for its usefulness to both power and sail boaters.
  2. Savings on Insurance:  United States Power Squadrons has an arrangement with The St. Paul Insurance Company, which provides preferential (i.e. “discounted”) premium rates to Members for their boat insurance. SEE INSURANCE STORY HERE
  3. Discounts:  BOAT/US reduces its dues by 50% for Members of USPS local Squadrons . Not only is there a full service BOAT/US store in our area, where discounts apply to USPS Members' purchases, ordering supplies is also facilitated through catalog and “on-line” via the internet, where the same discounts apply. Press here to see more about BOAT/US BOAT/US INFO
  4. Good Times: Bare Cove Squadron holds a rendezvous each boating season, where we cruise/sail to some predetermined point for a weekend of socializing in delightful environments. One of our rendezvous was at the Scituate Harbor Yacht Club, featuring a cocktail party, rafting, socializing, and dinner out at one of Scituate’s fine restaurants.
  5.  Rendezvous We also had a “no-cruise, no-sail” weekend rendezvous at the Centre Street Inn on Nantucket, where a grand time was had by all.
  6. Socials:  An annual “cook-out” at a local venue, accessible by auto. A recent one was at Broad Reach in Weymouth (arranged by our very own Cindy Madden), where lobster, chicken, chowder, and salads (and a variety of “beverages”) were enjoyed by all.  An annual Christmas Party, featuring buffet dining, a variety of “beverages”, and a visit by Santa Claus.
  7. Publications:  Squadron Members receive the USPS National magazine “The Ensign”, filled with interesting articles, boat maintenance and cruising tips.
  8. Local Knowledge:  Our “Port Captain” program provides our Members with an experienced contact person at virtually every important harbor in the United States, so you can obtain “local knowledge” information or assistance.
