HOLIDAY BOAT PARADE t BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA

REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

 

Join Main Street Beaufort and the Beaufort Sail and Power Squadron as we celebrate another festive holiday season on the Beaufort River.  The 2009 Light Up The Night holiday boat parade takes place Saturday, December 5, 2009 in historic downtown Beaufort, South Carolina.

 

Participation Fee ~ $15.00—All Boats ( No Commercial Boat Entries)

Entries not considered for judging unless application fee is paid and all contact information and theme/boat description is submitted.

 

PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES

Who:                            Come One! Come All! Large Boats & Small!!

What:                           Each boat must have lights.  Participants are encouraged to be

creative in designing their boats for the parade. Cash prizes will be awarded in five (5) categories. 

 

Award Categories:          Best Decorated Power Boat Under 25’; Best Decorated Power Boat 25’ & Over; Best Decorated Sailboat Under 30’; Best Decorated Sailboat 30’ & Over; Best Decorated non-motorized vessel.

 

Where and When:          Non-motorized vessels will gather at the Downtown Marina Day Dock at 4 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2009 The lead boat will arrive at the seawall at the Waterfront Park by 5 p.m.  Boats will make three (3) passes by the seawall.

 

Power Boats and Sailboats will gather in the river at Buoy # 244, near Port Royal Landing Marina at 5 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2009. The lead boat will arrive at the seawall at the Waterfront Park by 6:00 p.m.  Boats will make three (3) circular passes by the seawall.  Winners will be announced at the end of the event.  A winners list will also be sent to area news media.

 

How & How much:         Complete registration form and $15.00 entry fee must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27. Only pre-registered boats with paid fees are eligible for cash prizes. Each class must have three entries to compete for cash prizes Applications will be accepted in person at the office of Main Street Beaufort, USA, 811 Bay Street, Suite 4.  or mailed to Beaufort Sail & Power Squadron, 8 Blue Heron Circle, Beaufort SC 29907

I certify that my boat or vessel is seaworthy and that as Captain, I will be responsible for it and my crew and passengers. I have all equipment required by the Coast Guard for a vessel of my size on board and a life jacket or flotation device meeting Coast Guard approval for each of my passengers. Also, I understand that I am responsible for my actions and those of any person on my vessel, before, during, or after this event. I further agree to follow the directions of the Coast Guard, Beaufort Sail and Power Squadron and the Beaufort Search and Rescue while participating in this event. The boat owner, boat captain, guests and crew agree to hold harmless the City of Beaufort, Main Street Beaufort, USA, the Beaufort Sail and Power Squadron and all event sponsors, named and unnamed, and associates for any damages or injuries or any civil liability resulting from their participation in the 2009 Light Up the Night holiday boat parade.
