Since USPS is a volunteer organization, it is essential that our members be willing and able to contribute their time, energy, and skills to the objectives of the organization, self education, civic service, and a family boating club.
One of the core beliefs of BSPS membership is that an educated boater is a safe boater. It should then come as no surprise that there is an educational requirement. Typically, this is satisfied by completion of America's Boating Course, but if you have previous experience and training such as completion of another USPS or NASBLA approved courses including: USCG Captain's License, a degree from the US Naval Academy, USCG Academy or US Merchant Marine Academy or any boating course carrying NASBLA certification; then that qualifies you as well.
You must be 16 years of age.
You must be accepted by the squadron executive committee.
