BENEFITS
You do not
have to own a boat to become a member of the United States Power Squadrons®,
but you should love boating!
We are a
social organization and you constantly meet other people who, like you, are
interested in boating and cruising
We provide
advanced courses
to our members free of charge (cost for materials only).
We are a
public boating service organization promoting boating safety
It is fun!
Boaters are nice people!
Our
volunteers are assisting the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA) in updating their oceanographic
charts, saving the U.S. Government several million dollars annually
Because of
the fact mentioned before, our individual expenses on behalf of the USPS and
the Catawba Squadron are tax deductible. This includes attending National
and District meetings, participating in co-op charting, etc. (501(c)(3) status allows these personal tax deductions.
