Cruise on the Schooner "Fame"

On Wednesday, 4 August 2004 members of the Charles River Sail & Power Squadron relived the excitement of being a privateer in the War of 1812. We took a sunset cruise on the schooner "Fame", where we were reminded by Capt. Rutstein of how the original Fame captured British merchant ships many times her size, brought them to American ports, then auctioned both the prize vessels and their cargo. (For the full story, see the Ahoy issue of September 2004.)

Mainsail is set!

The canon is fired! No unfriendly ship was captured during the cruise, but the bell of Jubilee YC rang out in response to our gun.
