Commander's Message

Commander’s Message.

Dear Fellow Squadron Members,

Ten years ago, I was installed as the fourth female commander of the Charlotte Power Squadron.  What an honor it was for me to serve our squadron then and what an honor it still is for me to serve again now.

We have a wonderful year ahead of us.  As usual, we will have our annual J. J. Rodgers Chicken Q in April and our T. K. Moore Memorial Pork Barbecue in November.  Also, the Children’s Outing in May and Predicted Log Contest in June with Catawba.  We really need to get that trophy back!! The Commander’s Membership Appreciation cookout will continue in July and hopefully we can bring back our Coastal Rendezvous this year.  Stay tuned for a few surprises, too!

We already have several ABC Boating courses planned for 2019 and hope to offer some advanced courses, too.  Vessel safety checks and participation in the Mid Atlantic Boat Show will continue as well.

It is still a mystery to me as to why we continue to struggle with membership involvement. We have 97 members and only about one third actually participate.  There HAS to be a way to get more members involved.  Please make a special effort in 2019 to attend a membership meeting or join us for one of our social events.  You will enjoy it, I promise!

I am looking forward to 2019 and I hope you are, too.  Come on out, participate, and get the most out of being a member of YOUR squadron!

As it has been said before,

Come for the Boating Education…Stay for the Friends

Sincerely,

Commander Paula Stewart, AP
