Photos and Activities for the Month of April

ABC-TWRA Class ends

April saw the end of the ABC class, we have some new members for a 6 month membership. We also finished up the TWRA test for our younger students.

We have started the Sail class at Privateer with some of our members and some from Privateer. That is our past commander Tom on the boat. You can tell the students are paying attention or maybe one of them is to walk the plank later.

April Member Meeting

The April Meeting was held at the Privateer Yacht Club. On the right is our Education Officer Jim Kuemmel with Roger and his wife.  He is one of the new members from the ABC class. If you see Roger, give him a welcome.

We also had visitors from the Coast Guard Auxiliary, David and Gayle.

Before the meeting we held a social hour with Hors d'oeuvres and wine tasting. Below are some of our regular members enjoying the tasting. It looks like they liked them all.

After the social hour we had an Italian Dinner. By the looks of the length of the line everyone was hungry. Norm has another hit.

After dinner we passed out the awards that we had received at the D17 Conference but first we must give credit to Mary that after many delays she passed the Seamanship class and now is and S.

We received an award for the C Way and an award for our web site but  perhaps best of below we show our commander presenting Bill Williamson with his 25th Life Membership award.

I expect the happiest members at the meeting were those shown in the lower right. They have each received checks to refund the cost of their Seamanship books. Under a program from District 17 new members will get the cost of their books refunded for their first class up to $50.

After  the business meeting was over we had a presentation by Mark Pipkin from TVA. His presentation covered the management of the dams and he had a special presentation on the status of the rebuilding of the lock at Chattanooga.

His presentation was well received and he is shown here receiving a certificate of appreciation from our commander.

Chattanooga State University held its annual health fair and CSPS was there.  Pictured here are four of the volunteers....our fifth volunteer, our SEO, was off donating blood.  We talked to many students and spread the word about our organization.  We handed out flyers about our upcoming TWRA class to be held at McCallie School in May.
