The Charleston Sail & Power Squadron is a Fraternal Boating Club whose members are devoted to Self Education in all issues concerning boating safety. Members may select courses from basic boat handling to advanced celestial navigation. In addition, members are offered courses in engine maintenance, weather, electronics and others. The squadron offers a Boating course to the public as a Civic Service.

Charted in 1947, Charleston Sail & Power Squadron in one of about 450 squadrons of the ®United States Power Squadrons and one of eleven (11) in District 26.

The squadron participates in the annual cleanup of the local marine environment including rivers and boat ramps. Members enjoy monthly boating outings as well as a monthly dinner meeting where a program of maritime interest is presented. A monthly news letter, The Palmetto Log, is published.
