Saturday March 10, 2007 10 March Rendezvous and Vessel Safety Checks On Saturday, 10 March, there were lots of Vessel Examiners in Red Shirts, several boats and other members of Charleston Power Squadron at the Cooper River Marina for lunch and the VSC day. The weather cooperated and it was a nice day for a picnic. Dick Howells, B. J. Smith and Daisy Proctor set up the picnic area. Dick Howells did all the cooking and the hamburgers and hotdogs were superb! We had 24 people and one beautiful Golden Retriever who attended the cook out. Everyone enjoyed lots of food and desert was absolutely delicious. Thanks to all the cooks. “Old” Vessel Examiners attending were: Munford Jeter, Tony Ward, Steve Kromer and Harl Porter; “new” VEs attending were: Art Clark, Dick Howells, Terry Melloy and Angela Wright. Also in attendance were two VEs in training: Steve Ireland and Stan Whitman. If you need a VSC for your boat, please feel free to contact any of these members. Approximately 15 VSC were performed on member and marina boats. Thanks VEs. Boats “Sweet Grass” (Reves’), “Miss Grace” (Gary Whitley) and “Wind Elephant” (Porter’s) came on the water and received VSCs. Several boats came on their trailers and also received VSCs.
