Our 14 February 2008 membership meeting was a great event. Our speaker Dewey Teske provided insight into the Spirit of South Carolina and her first year of service. The Spirit had participated in many events this past year including hosting our Judges for the Holiday Parade of Boats. She will have a busy year next year as well, hosting many education classes for young students. There were 59 people at our February membership meeting. Helen and her staff did a masterful job with the Valentine theme and dinner. Everyone received a little valentine gift and the ladies were presented with a lovely red carnation. Thanks also to Stan and Karen Whitman for setting up the facility and assisting with the decorations and subsequent clean up. Once again, Jim Easley and Gary Whitley had the refreshments flowing. Thanks to all who stayed and helped to clean up afterwards. Harl looked comfortable behind the vacuum cleaner. Also thanks to Rob Turkewitz for donating the Whirlybird Repeller. I am sure that Fred Wichman, the high bidder for it, will enjoy using it. All in all, a great crowd, super food and a lot of fun had by all. BJ
