Charleston Sail and
Power Squadron
Mission Statement
The Charleston Sail and
Power Squadron is a Fraternal Boating Club whose members are devoted to continuing
education in all issues concerning boating safety.
Members and non-members may select courses from basic boat handling, to basic
and advanced navigation, to advanced celestial navigation. In addition, members
are offered courses in engine maintenance, weather, electronics and other
electives. The squadron offers the America's
Boating Course to the public, on a regular basis, as a Civic Service.
Charted in 1947, Charleston
Sail and Power Squadron in one of about 450 squadrons of the ®United States
Power Squadrons and one of thirteen in District 26.
The squadron participates
in the annual cleanup of the local marine environment including rivers and
boat ramps. Members enjoy monthly boating outings as well as a monthly dinner
meeting where a program of maritime interest is presented. A monthly news
letter, The
Palmetto Log, highlights monthly events and relevant
Squadron notices.
