
The basic boating safety course called “Boat Smart” is designed to meet the minimum requirements stipulated for procuring the Florida Boat Operator’s License which is required by law for specified individuals.
This comprehensive class is 8 hours in duration and can be given as a one day (8 hour) class, two day (4 hours each day) class, or a four night (2 hours each night) class.
Boat Smart was developed as a joint effort between the United States Power Squadrons and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Some of the topics covered are: Boat Handling, Rules of the Road, Equipment Requirements, Coast Guard and Florida State Regulations, Safety on the Water, Jet Ski Handling, Trailer Handling and Emergency Procedures.
Successful completion of this course not only entitles you to your Florida Boat Operator’s License but also membership in America’s largest boating club, United States Power Squadrons, and the local unit, Crystal River Power Squadron.
