
We are an organization dedicated to boating safety; a social organization that revolves around boating and boating education.
The following boating course is available to the general public - there is a small charge for instructional materials:
ABC - Americas Boating Course - The basic boating safety course. Passing this course is a requirement for younger boaters, and most insurance companies will give a lower insurance rate to boat owners who have taken this course. Click here for more details.
The following courses are available to USPS members and the public - check the event schedule page for dates & times:
Seamanship - A follow on to the Boat Smart course with greater depth.
Piloting - Charting and basic near shore navigation.
Advanced Piloting - Advanced charting and near shore navigation including tide calculations.
Junior Navigation - Basic offshore navigation including electronic and celestial techniques.
Navigation - Advanced offshore navigation and techniques.
Cruise Planning - Instructions and information on preparing for a cruise.
Weather - In depth information on weather patterns and how to recognize them.
Marine Electronics - Three courses on Marine Electrical Systems, Marine Communications Systems and Electronic Navigation Systems
Engine Maintenance - A basic course on marine inboard and outboard engines and their systems.
Sail - Theories and techniques of sailing, sailboats, rigging, wind types, etc.
Other specialized elective courses are offered as membership interest dictates.
