Commanders Message - 1 July 2008
DC Message: How are we doing???
In times of crises, it is great to see the Bridge and committee members rally to render assistance when needed. This is very much in line with Team spirit and reinforces the believe that we are family, that we are as united and as committed as the day we took office. We sincerely apologize for the late production of the District Roster. Please be so kind as to provide as soon as possible the relevant information on the OD2 to Ken Voight email - kvoight@digitalpublishing.com Fax: 714 546 2389
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
To sustain and grow membership is one of the prime task every squadron and district is confronted with nationwide. Every squadron should make a concerted effort to grow the organization. Each squadron should encourage their membership to make a personal effort to encourage and influence an interested person to become a member. This is such a valuable tool for growth that National has instituted a Power of One program to recognize members and squadrons for their contribution by awarding a power of one pin. Congratulations to all those who have received this recognition.
Collectively, a District can compare its performance by the individual squadrons contribution in six areas such as:
- Membership
- Safe Boating class registration
- Advanced Grade graduates
- Elective grade graduates
- Vessel safety checks
- Co-op charting credits.
A District earning 25 points or more will be designated a Bowsprit District. A Bowsprit award will be presented at the National USPS Fall Governing Board meeting in September. Each member squadron of the Bowsprit District will receive a Certificate of Achievement. The cut off dates is June 30.
Co-op Charting statistics were finalized in March and Member retention July 31.
Districts 16 and 28 have equaled or exceeded last year's membership totals.
Districts 3, 21, 26, 27, and 33 achieved National Honor Role status for Co-op Charting. District 13 has a total of 7 points.
The Multi -District West Coast Fall Conference will be in October after the Governing Board meeting in September in Detroit. The Fall Conference will be hosted by District 25 with District 13 and 28 participating. There will be several District 13 awards to be presented. They are educational awards, the shipping over trophy and the Harlan Anderson Photographic award. A luxury bus is being considered depending on the number of requests. Please contact Ed Wylie immediately should you wish to use the bus service. Tel: 714 528-5369 email: edwylie@aol.com
We look forward to a very successful Conference.
Have a GREAT JULY 4th HOLIDAY WEEKEND.
