Free Vessel Safety Checks
In Command

The Vessel Safety Check Program is one of the ways in which the United States Power Squadron serves the public and promotes boating safety. District 16 Vessel Examiners (VE) perform over 1300 free vessel safety checks (VSC) a year and enjoy every minute of it. They are busy throughout the year providing VSCs for boaters and educating them on state and federal regulations. Whether you paddle a canoe, own a personal watercraft or a yacht you are eligible for this service and when your boat successfully passes a decal is awarded for display on your vessel.

Our Vessel Examiners also support local boating events sponsored by cruising clubs, marinas and other marine and water sport related organizations as well. Many events like Seafair and fishing derbies encourage boaters to obtain a VSC prior to participating (some even require it). Contact your local VSC Chair to schedule a VSC for your boat or for Vessel Examiners to attend your boating event.
