D/21 Fall 2006 District Conference
Teaching Aid Exhibition & Judging

Hard copies and a CD have been mailed to all SEO's, so TA chairs, ask for them!

This is a reminder that the D/21 Fall Educational Conference dates are approaching soon – 26-29 October – aboard the Carnival cruise ship to Cozumel, Mexico. As Teaching Aids Chairman, Nancy Cunningham is making a concerted effort to have all fourteen squadrons participate in the T/A Exhibit and Competition.  Anything your squadron uses to enhance teaching a course or to get a particular point across will be welcome!

Below are links to all the instructions, documents, etc. that you will need to enter your Teaching Aid, plus information on how the aids are judged. Since we will be at sea, we will not have a traditional exhibit space with the actual aids on the ship.  (Although I know those of you with a huge, complicated apparatus will be sad to hear we don’t want you to haul them aboard!)  We will use 21st century technology, and have paper prints for distribution.

1)     D/21 2006 Teaching Aides Letter, Instructions, Registration Form, and Judging Criteria (PDF 239kb)

2)
National EdDept T/A Documents – if you want to send the T/A to the national exhibit)

a)     T/A Award Descriptions (PDF 15kb)
b)     T/A Guidelines (PDF 17kb)
c)      Electronic T/A Guidelines (PDF 27kb)
d)     National T/A Registration Form (PDF 45kb)

3)     T/A PowerPoint Template (PPT 181kb)

The T/A Instructions will give you specifics on what you need to do to submit your Teaching Aids for judging.

The PowerPoint template has space for the required information, and slides for pictures of the Teaching Aid.  There are customized title pages already for each squadron.  You may add more slides as needed – there is no strict limit, but we do ask that you stick to the template format for similarity of appearance for the judges.

On the ship, we will have paper copies of the PowerPoint files for each judge, plus extra copies for interested members.  After the cruise we will distribute digital copies of all “exhibited” Teaching Aids.  How high-tech is that!!!

You may email the digital files of the PowerPoint file and your D/21 entry form to DAO Jean Hamilton: JLHamilton@MarathonOil.com

Or send a CD to Jean at:
661 Bering Drive,
#201Houston, TX  77057

Jean will be making the copies courtesy of Marathon Oil, so it will be easier to send them directly to her rather than routing through Nancy.)

If for any reason, your squadron is technically challenged such that you cannot get digital pictures to put into the PowerPoint file; or if you can’t handle the PowerPoint at all – Jean has volunteered to help you however she can – WITH SUFFICIENT NOTICE!  We don’t want any squadron to feel penalized by the wonderful, but exceptional, circumstances of the cruise meeting format!

Your CD and/or email files need to back to us NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, 18 OCTOBER.  This will ensure adequate time to print copies, etc. Thank you in advance for your participation!

Nancy Cunningham
