A primary activity for which we are most noted is our public Boating courses. Throughout the year, local squadrons provide a classroom environment where adults can gather to increase their skills in boat operation and handling, while meeting others with similar interests. Many lasting friendships have been formed, and valuable experiences shared by those taking our classes.
The environment is relaxed and fun, yet there is serious learning taking place. Our classes are attended by men and women, often times by couples taking the course together. Children may also take the course, but we recommend a minimum age of 12 so that they may have a successful experience grasping the material. There are short weekly homework assignments, and most classes span a 6-8 week time period, meeting one night per week.
Ownership of a boat is not a prerequisite! Even if you are an experienced boater, you will learn something new. These classes cover:
