The Fort Worth Sail & Power Squadron has adopted NOAA Chart #11309, which covers Corpus Christi Bay, in partnership with the Coastal Bend Sail & Power Squadron (formerly Corpus Christi).  Intrepid members of FWSPS travel to Corpus Christi and venture out in boats and cars to compare the charted information to what's really there.  Updates are sent to NOAA for inclusion in their chart database via CCWEB, the web-based interface that replaced the 77-4 forms.  These trips are a lot of fun and are a vital part of our public service commitment to boating safety.  We can use all the help we can get; no experience, boat, or GPS necessary.

More information on the USPS-NOAA Cooperative Charting and Adopt-a-Chart Programs can be found at these USPS and NOAA web sites.  A good article on how the program helps NOAA can be found here.

Print-on-Demand charts are available from OceanGrafix.  These are official charts printed under contract to NOAA, and include the latest Notices to Mariners.  They are printed when you order them, so they are always up-to-date.

Maptech provides a training version of their electronic charting software for free to all public boating class, Piloting, and Advanced Piloting students on a CD.  It can also be downloaded from here.  Electronic charts are also free and available from Maptech at this site.  NOAA also provides the electronic charts here.

Dates and hotel information will be provided at meetings, in The Sou'wester, and on the FWSPS calendar.
