Course Description
The second of three stand alone electronics courses, which may be taken in
any order. This is an in depth review of the communication systems available to the recreational boater.
Topics covered:
• Radio history and communications.
• Radio frequency spectrum definitions.
• Radio circuits and best communication methods.
• GMDSS – Global Maritime Distress and safety System
• FCC rules and regulations
• Operating procedures for voice and digital communications.
• Long range Radio and other marine communication systems: EPIRB, DSC, satellite
communications and amateur radio.
• Radio maintenance.
