Ahoy Everyone!
November is upon us, Halloween has passed, Thanksgiving is just around the corner, then the full Holiday Season is here and gone before we notice it. Christmas and any of the other holidays that you may celebrate including New Years’ Celebration for 2013 will be full of fun, laughter, friends and family and, of course, that inevitable monster called stress. So my wish for you all is to relax, take it easy, enjoy these times for they will soon be gone and another year will arrive.
How do I …?
While relaxing, please take a good look through the USPS website. A real interesting section is at the top of the Home Page entitled “How do I ….?” Whether you wish to become a Vessel Examiner, review USPS policy or make a donation to the Century Fund, it’s all there and more. If your question cannot be answered, you can easily request an answer simply by sending an email (see note at bottom of the “How do I …?” page).
Also, for your further perusal, at the top of the “How do I …?” page there is a way to access learning about and understanding how the various Departments within your squadron function, in addition to the various Committees within each Department. Our squadron currently has active Committee Chairs for: Boating Activities, Membership, Newsletter, Operations Training, Public Boating Course, Public Contact, Public Relations, Roster, Safety and Vessel Safety Check. Our squadron’s Committee Chairs have had other positions as well and it is time for those who have not served as a Committee Chair to speak up and volunteer to take on one of these positions or any other position which you feel may be a good fit for your many talents – and I know many of you have lots of talents!
So, please, everyone, I urge you to go the USPS website, click on “How do I …?” and find out what you can do for your squadron, your district and the United States Power Squadrons in whole. The people you will meet are knowledgeable, fun and will be happy to help you along your way to a more fulfilling experience within our squadron, our District, National and more. You will be pleasantly surprised at the fun you can have while working toward boating safety and education. Folks, we need you, on the Bridge as well as on our Committees.
