Lake Norman Sail and Power Squadron® , a unit of United States Power Squadrons, District 27, covers North Carolina and North Central South Carolina. United States Power Squadrons® has units in all of the United States and its territories.

We are a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote high standards of seamanship and navigation and safe boating for all. Our squadron, located in the beautiful Lake Norman, NC area, includes sail and power boats. We currently have over 100 members. A major focus of our squadron is community education and boating safety through Public Boating Safety classes - America's Boating Course - held throughout the year in multiple locations around Lake Norman for the general public. (These classes are approved for certification to operate Personal Watercraft by persons 14 to 16 years of age in accord with N.C. State law.) We also participate in civic activities such as community education and special safety programs and promotions, such as volunteer Vessel Safety Checks and public awareness for boating safety and with NOAA toward the improvement of boating safety conditions. A day of access to boating activities for boys and girls living in area children's homes is an annual important community service project. In addition to this, member benefits include an active social schedule filled with fun. Also, squadron members are eligible to take our advanced courses taught by qualified instructors. These begin with basic seamanship and continue on through piloting, advanced piloting, junior navigation to the advanced classes in navigation. Elective courses available for member participation include marine electronics, sail, engine maintenance, cruise planning, weather, and many other areas of boating interest. You are invited to come and join us.

Please click on the highlighted links and browse our web pages to learn more of our organization's mission, of the educational courses we teach and of our activities, and also to see pictures of the "fun" events that we enjoy together.  We invite you to investigate becoming a member of the LNSPS, have fun with us, take member courses, join fellow members on cruises and rendezvous, participate in civic service activities and enjoy Member Benefits.
