The Executive Committee (ExCom) is the board of directors for the squadron, and is responsible for managing and operating the squadron. The ExCom is composed of the bridge officers (commander, executive officer, educational officer, administrative officer, secretary and treasurer) plus the immediate past commander and up to three members at large. The Commander is the ranking officer of the squadron. Members of the Executive Committee are elected by the MSPS membership annually at the Change of Watch.

Officers and Chairs are appointed by the Commander to perform specific duties to help the ExCom carry out the mission of the MSPS. This includes such positions as legal officer, seminar chair, vessel safety check chair, membership chair, newsletter editor, webmaster, etc.

Elected Committees are mandated by the MSPS Bylaws. There are three elected committees: the Nominating Committee, Rules Committee, and the Auditing Committee. Members of the Elected Committees are elected by the MSPS membership annually at the Change of Watch.
