Members Benefits
Benefits are the basis of what USPS has to offer to prospective members. We can help members improve their boating skills, contribute to their community, and increase their fun on and off of the water.
Ask any member what they feel is the most important
member benefit and the answer will vary. At the top of all
lists are camaraderie and education. Our parties, dinners and
meetings encourage members to join and chat about their
experiences and participate in the organization operations
and activities.
USPS offers the best marine education outside of the military.
Our educational page outlines the courses.
Members receive numerous publications. The expense of these publications
comprises most of
the cost of the member's annual dues.
The national organization
publishes theensign®
6 times a year and contains stories of travels and updates of interest to all members.
District 1 publishes the Sounds Of ® twice a year.
MPS publishes a newsletter, Meriden Masthead, to keep members abreast of the latest squadron activities.
Port Captains is a voluntary program which links members who have specific knowledge of a boating area and are willing to share their knowledge. They are an extremely valuable resource when planning to cruise in unfamiliar waters.
Co-operative charting is a program which allows USPS members to help NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) update and maintain charts. Chart corrections are published on a weekly basic via the LNM (Local Notice to Mariners) during boating season.
USPS partners with several companies to provide special benefits to members.
Insurance benefits: Members are entitled to receive boating insurance discounts and the more educational classes completed the more these savings can add up. In most cases, this can amount to more than your annual dues.
