Public Courses

Merrimac River Sail & Power Squadron (MRSPS) is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to making boating safer and more fun through education, community programs, and the knowledge and experience of our members. We are one of 450 squadrons comprising the a United States Power Squadrons®. As part of our community program, our members teach Safe Boating Courses and seminars to the public, typically during September through May. Safe Boating Courses are an excellent learning opportunity for beginning boaters as well as the experienced skipper and crew. Graduates are invited to join the Merrimac River Sail & Power Squadron and take advantage of the many opportunities and benefits of Membership

Member Courses

In addition to its public education program, USPS teaches a series of outstanding courses that cover advanced seamanship, navigational techniques, and boat handling, maintenance, and enhancement topics. Five Advanced Grade courses are offered by USPS. They are designed to be taken in sequence because each builds on skills taught in the previous course. Elective Courses in six area are offered by USPS. They cover separate and independent topics and therefore may be taken in any order according to a person's interests and time.
