Updated 5-JAN-2011 Merrimac River Sail & Power Squadron holds it’s first annual 'Blessing of the Fleet Ceremony'
On June 11, 2008, squadron members gathered at the Chateau Restaurant in Andover MA for a fun filled and gala event - the “Blessing of the Merrimac River Fleet”. People brought photos of their boats where they were all placed on a table to signify the ‘fleet’.
Our own 'Rev.' Arthur Yarranton conducted a wonderful ceremony combining informative historical information and traditional prayers performed for hundreds of years by our ancestors.
Following the Blessing everyone sat down to a great dinner served by the Chateau restaurant. Everyone who attended had a wonderful time.
We plan to make this an annual spring event to signify the commissioning of our boats along with the hopes for a safe season.
For those who could not make it this time, see you next spring! Privacy Statement | Trademark
