February 2003
The
Rappahannock Power & Sail Squadron held its monthly meeting on February
18 at the Deltaville Facility. Social hour began at 6:00pm with dinner
at 7:00pm; slate of officers for 2003-2004 were presented. George Miller
discussed the pros and cons of changing our name. A show of hands
indicated most were in favor of doing so, however a straw vote was taken.
Two names presented were Rappahannock Power & Sail and Mid-Peninsula Power
& Sail. George also asked if there were any other names from the
membership to be considered. After a final tally of the votes, we will
proceed with the next step according to USPS rules.
March 2003 This was our Change of Watch ceremony. Our District 5 guest was Education Officer Harold Willard and his wife Leahrea. Our new Commander is Eugene Wolski. The other officers are Alan Christiansen, Executive Officer; Dyan Warren, Administrative Officer; Dave Montgomery, Education Officer; Lee Paul, Secretary; and Jim Gordon, Treasurer. In addition to the ceremony, the Squadron is officially going through the process of changing our name. At the regular meeting to be held in April, Squadron members will vote on the amendment to change the name to Rappahannock Power and Sail Squadron. A quorum, which consists of 10% of the active members, must be present at the meeting. For the amendment to pass, two-thirds vote of the active members present is required. Voting will be conducted by the Rules Committee under the direction of the Chairman, Buck Boyd.
