Whenever we can impose on our members to share their adventures with us, we will post them here.  They will take the form of narratives, reflections, or philosophical thoughts that the cruise is inspired.

Jim and Paula O'Brien report from West Coast of Florida:

Morrigan is a Krogen 42.  Jim & Paula have been cruising since November-going down the Intracoastal Waterway to Florida, around the Keys and are now on the West Coast of Florida.  Their commentary via e-mail:

After two nights on a mooring, we left the luxury of Naples for the outskirts of Cape Coral in an anchorage known as Glover Bight off the Caloosahatchee River.  On a Wednesday morning, not too early either, we passed a continuous stream of slow moving, single file boats going in the opposite direction, apparently going fishing in the Sound or Gulf.  We had never ever seen so many boats!  I hope the weekend isn't more crowded.

The next day we moved north about 25 miles to Cayo Costa State Park, where we have anchored for several days.  The anchorage is shallow but very large.  The park is on a 6 mile long barrier island just south of Boca Grande Pass and is a food place to just sit.  We went to the beach Friday (March 7th ); mostly broken shells, not much sand.  Still, it's a good place to explore and walk.  At night on the boat we hear what sounds like a slow speed woodpecker working on the hull of the boat.  According to the park ranger, it is most likely the dolphins using their sonar to round up fish for dinner.  Maybe, but I'm keeping my eyes out for waterproof woodpeckers! 

The weather here has been warm and sunny with a good breeze; 70-80 degrees and no rain!

The picture below is a sunrise at Marathon Key.  Jim & Paula were last heard from on March 23rd via email.  Their plan is begin the three day trek across Florida via Lake Okeechobee.  Keep checking back here for updates on their journey home!
