The annual rite of passage each year is the Change of Watch (COW), where we thank the outgoing bridge and committees for their great efforts through the year and welcome the 2008 squadron bridge and committee members. As commander's have said in year's past, don't worry about the pomp and circumstance; we know how to have fun.
Johnson signs on for another termCdr Bill Johnson, AP, has agreed to serve a second term as commander of the Phoenix Sail and Power Squadron. He becomes the second person in the squadrons almost 50-year history to do so, joining Jim Hill as a two-timer. The squadron has elected a new ExO and AO, who were also installed at the February Change of Watch by D/C Chuck Peterson, SN.
Barb Lusson honoredP/C Ron Werner reads the proclamation honoring Barb Lusson with the Thunderbird Award, the squadrons highest honor for those who provide the highest level of service to the squadron. For many years Barb has pitched in to get whatever job needed to be done for the squadron.
Oh, sure. Its easy to smile nowP/C Doug Frazier is all smiles as he is presented with the first John Yount Sheer Genius Award for the biggest screw-up of the year while boating. Good taste dictates that your editor recommend you hear the story first hand rather than through tempting embellishments in this publication.
