The Phoenix Sail & Power Squadron
has three occasions
when it gathers at a member's home to bring the group together
for mainly a social event. They are the Ice Cream Social, Fall
Potluck, and the Christmas Party. A brief general membership
meeting is held at each except the Christmas Party.

A breezy day wind break |
Well, it didn't snow but it didn't rain either!!! A number
of people circled the park until sighting the Ensign and Burgee
flying from tall poles. December 8th was the Sail and Power Squadron's
Annual Christmas Party. Who would have thought a Ramada in Papago
Park could have turned into such a festive spot. The decorations
were magnificent provided by Diane Ashton and Jeanine Quagliara.
The Davis' provided a real Christmas tree, and more ornaments.
Since there was a chill in the air, the outdoor heaters and hot
coffee and tea were essential and provided by Rob and Veronica
Anderson who just happened to have them filling up the back of
their truck.
Entertainment was inexpensive and silly to say the least. We
played games provided by Barb and Diane. All who participated
were great sports and had a youthful kind of fun. The food, as
always, was a potluck to remember, especially by stepping on
a scale. Connie and Bill Johnson provided us with a juicy flavorful
turkey and a Honey Baked Ham was provided by Chuck and Barb Davis.
The rest of the feast was an excellent compliment and no one
left hungry; that is for sure.

Now that is how to keep warm |

Generous squadron members brought money to purchase food and
toys to be given to needy families in central Phoenix. Barb Davis
will personally deliver these, so you know that your gifts truly
got to the right place. Our holiday nautical ornament exchange
was better that anticipated not realizing just how many unique
water related Christmas Tree boggles were out there.

and drop it in the bucket at the finish line |

It is hard to tell who is having more fun, the
participants or the audience |

Art Ashton opens a gift |

Token gift exchange with a twist. Barb Davis read
a story and anytime she said the word "right" or "left"
you passed you gift in that direction. |
We thank all those who came and all those who helped with
food, donations, and planning!! This Squadron is truly and blessing
this time of year and all year through.
If anyone has any ideas as to where we should host the party
next December, please let Bill or Connie know now so we can make
reservations for next year.
