POKER RUN
SEBASTIAN CLAMMING

Dave and Carol Bruce coordinated this years Pompano Beach Power Squadron's Poker Run.
You can use your boat, or your car to get your cards. Speed is not important, just a winning hand.

After the activity, Dave and Carol hosted the victory party at their beautiful home on the Intracoastal Waterway.

The Pompano Beach Power Squadron invaded the

Rise and shine. The clamming grounds are waiting for us.

A hearty breakfast before the hard work
at the clamming grounds.

Look out clams, here we come!

We commandeered Cdr Diana Jackson, AP and her husband Lt Mike Jackson, AP
and their boat from the Sebastian Inlet Sail and Power Squadron,
and Cdr Bill Heimbaugh, S with his boat from the Vero Beach Power Squadron
as our guides.

They ferried us to their "secret" clamming grounds using GPS.
They know "exactly" where the clams are.

Were on our way!

We have arrived at their "secret" clamming spot.

These pictures were taken just a few minutes apart.
The only difference is the direction they were taken.
It looks like we are going to have as much water
above the boats as below it.

Fortunately we were able to dodge the rain.

Sebastian Inlet Bridge.

When they built the new bridge, they left part of the old one
to be used as a fishing pier.

Squadron members captured "every" clam in the area.
When we got done there wasn't a clam left.

Our "catch".

HMMM!  I wonder about those GPS coordinates.
Maybe they didn't bring us to their "secret" clamming spot after all.

We have a secret ourselves. Watch what happens when we cook these clams.

Some of the scenic views in this area.
Is this Heaven or what!

Our Master Chef P/C Rich Walker SN is hard at work cooking lunch
for the Clam Diggers and other Squadron members.

Do you want to try some?
If you were a member of our squadron, you could enjoy this too.

1st/Lt Ernie Lee, S is performing his magic
as he cooks our Clam catch.

I told you he was a Magician.
He turned those two Clams into this entire tray.

P/C Marie Jackson, AP and D/Lt Ron Ray, JN
helping out with the cooking.

The food is ready.

Come and get it.

Sometimes it gets cold at night in South Florida.
We started a fire as it cooled off to 85 degrees.

The perfect end to a perfect Rendezvous.
