Pompano Beach Sail & Power Squadron Headquarters

The Pompano Beach Sail & Power Squadron is one of 15 Squadron in District 8, which  extends from Key West, north along the Atlantic coast to Sebastian Inlet and Vero Beach, Florida.  This is known as the Boating Mecca of the World, and we are in the center of it all.  Our squadron base  is located one block west of Federal Hwy (US 1) and one block  north of Sample Road on the west side of 18th Terrace in Pompano Beach, Florida.  This is approximately 10 miles north of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Our principal aim is to promote boating safety on the water through education in the classroom.  Send an E-Mail  to Lt/C Thomas Nolan, SN or call him at 954-421-8440 for information about attending one of our Boating courses. The course will teach you how to use and maintain your boat (Sail or Power) properly, safely, and legally, while enjoying yourself! Upon satisfactory completion of the boating course, we cordially solicit your membership in our organization.

Some of our boating activities you can enjoy as a member include: Raft-Ups and Weekend Rendezvous at many of the popular Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach County Florida marinas.  Occasionally, our Rendezvous' extend even farther.  Members can attend these activities by boat or car. Some of our members took a 10-day cruise through the Panama Canal. They would have used their own boats, but there boat's fuel tank capacity (and their wallet's) weren't large enough, so they went on the Crown Princess Cruise Ship (Someone must have made a wrong turn at Key West, as the Panama Canal is outside of our boating area. They need to take a refresher course on Piloting.) A Poker Run is also a favorite of many members. Our Poker Run does not require boating at high speeds to get from one location to another. In fact, you can go by car to get your cards. Afterwards, we have a party at one of the members waterfront homes (with food of course) to determine the winners. Our members also enjoy many  non-boating social activities, building friendships with people of all lifestyles. A couple of our non-boating activities included a night at a Horse Race Track, Happy Hour the first Friday of each month at 5:30 PM at the Tiki Bar, located at A1A and NE 14th Street in Pompano Beach, dinner meetings  at our Squadron Base the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM, plus others.

It shows a more in depth view of our organization.
It is published by the Distinction in Journalism winner,
