Welcome to the Potomac River Power Squadron 2007 The Potomac River Power Squadron is celebrating its 94th year. Founded in 1915 as a United States Power Squadron, Potomac River continues its goal of teaching boating safety and providing advanced courses in all aspects of boating and navigation. These courses have in the past and always will be "no cost" to the student, with the exception of materials. It is the goal of the United States Power Squadrons and Potomac River to educate the boater and afford him or her the tools to operate a safe and secure vessel in the increasingly crowded waterways. A boat safely operated by a well-trained skipper can provide many days and weekends of fun-filled enjoyment in the surrounding waterways. As a fraternal boating organization, Potomac River has along standing history of social functions. Primarily, at our general monthly meetings and our business meetings, we have an informative seminar which can cover topics such as jet skiing, underwater archaeology, or boat corrosion control, to name a few. Prior to the general meeting, light refreshments and snacks are served to provide time for the members to socialize and share boating events and experiences. In the boating months, weekend and weeklong cruises are scheduled that can take you and your boat 5 miles to a small raft-up or the entire length of the Chesapeake Bay. We also have scheduled picnics, Crab Feasts, and ceremonial events that round out the entire year. We offer services to the public such as Vessel Safety Examinations and location of bench marks for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Please visit the rest of Potomac River’s web site and feel free to contact any of the bridge officers with any questions you may have concerning the United States Power Squadrons or the Potomac River Power Squadron.
