Richmond Sail andPower Squadron is a member unit of District 5 of he United States Power Squadrons®  (USPS).  The Squadron was founded in 1954, is based in Richmond, Virginia and holds boating activities over a wide area of the lower Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.

One of our main activities is teaching new and not so new boaters the skills they need to enjoy boating safely. We offer courses of several 2-hour evening classes and single-session seminars covering specific skills. Click on the "Education" button to find out more, or click here for a shortcut to registration

Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month (except June & December) at West End Community Center, 8102 Ridge Road, Richmond. In addition to conducting squadron business, meetings are preceded by a social hour (occasionally also a light meal) and may also include a guest speaker. The program for each meeting is announced in our newsletter – “The Bullhorn” which is included elsewhere on this website. Guests are welcome at these meetings – just show up!

In addition to teaching boating classes, additional public service activities include vessel safety checks, cooperative charting, James River cleanup and support to other civic organizations
