The New York State Canal System operates from early May to mid-November. Operation of Canal System segments is subject to the latest water and weather conditions. The hours of operation for locks and lift bridges are set in conjunction with Eastern Time.

Passes and permits to navigate
the state canal system
are on sale for the boating season.

Two-day passes allow a boater
to pass
through an unlimited number of locks on two
consecutive days with the same vessel.
