1987 - COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

MATTHEW T. STRICKLAND, AP

The United States Power Squadron offers anyone with a boating interest an opportunity to associate and to socialize with other boating enthusiasts. Not at all exclusive, we welcome motor boaters, sailors, fishermen, or Sunday afternoon picnickers. Our activities include: numerous social dinner gatherings, boating rendezvous, cooperative charting, and geodetic marker recovery. Membership in the Power Squadron enables the boater to expand his knowledge of boating and marine activities. Courses available include Seamanship, Piloting, Navigation, Sail, Electronics, Engine Maintenance, and Weather.

Support your Power Squadron. Conduct a course, teach or proctor a lesson. Take a course yourself and "promote" yourself through the Power Squadron hierarchy. Attend our meetings, both the family socials and the Board meetings; lend a hand in the organization and the operation of the Squadron.

Always stay alert for potential new members. Many boaters out there need us, would enjoy the Squadron, and would make good members. Suggest that these folks take the Public Boating course, and propose them for membership.
