1990 - COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

JAMES B. "BERNIE" TYNDALL, P

It is an honor for me to accept the command of the Rocky Mount Power Squadron for a second year. Last year was a real pleasure for me personally, and I feel it was a productive year for the squadron. Our membership grew, our educational efforts were aggressive, social activities were frequent and fun, and our squadron had sole responsibility for transporting the USPS Ensign to District 5 in Norfolk, Virginia, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the United States Power Squadrons.

I reflect on last year briefly because I hope we can continue our programs in the coming year that will maintain the momentum I feel we have going for us now.
New members have been a tremendous boost to our squadron, and we should all work hard to attract additional members. Active involvement by new members, as well as existing members, is needed and is strongly encouraged.

This year we plan to have another aggressive education agenda, while at the same time promoting a fun-filled year of social functions. A big part of this year will be supporting our own Joe Hardee as he serves as District Commander for the year. We need the involvement and participation of as many members as possible at each district function to show the squadron's support for Joe during the year.

I am looking forward to another exciting year, and your active participation is needed to add to the excitement. Get involved, promote safe boating, and bring in potential new members to our squadron.

Let's work together and have a GREAT year!
